FOOD CRISIS IN KENYA

The food crisis being witnessed in kenya was anticipated along time ago by the goverment but nothing was done to curb the situation.Visiting Daadab refugee camp what you see is a full picture of disaster that it's yet to emerge.Cases of violence among women have emerged recently due to overcrowding in the camp making new arrivals settle on the outskirt of the camp where they are vunerable to attacks."UNHCR is particularly disturbed by unprecedented levels of malnutrition, among the new arrivals. The somali children arriving in Kenya 30 to 40 per cent are malnuorished," said UNHCR'S chief spokesperson Mellissa fleming.Equally the situation in kenya Northern Eastern region is severely hit by the on going drought in the horn of Africa. The analysis showed that, out of 15 drought-affected pastoral areas of kenya and Ethiopia, rainfall was below average for all the period, with 2010-2011 being the second driest year since 1950-1951.Inorder to curb the drought situation the goverment and other humanitarian organization should move quickly to address the food crisis in the country to avoid lose of lives.

The Akamba dance

The Akamba tribe is among the 42 tribes that are found in kenya.
Kamba have many kinds of song ranging from lullabies, circumcision, marriage and hunt songs, however
drums used during Kamba dance song differ with songs.
During my recent visit to machakos,i found that though  culture is fading away  among communities, there is some  organized kamba group that are still vibrate in the kamba traditional dance.
With a clear perception the group continues to entertain themself, dancing in ceremonies and gatherings with the songs and dances conveying the people's aspiration, hopes and fears.
The language used in this dances depicts on people's norms and  traits with regard to sorounding, following long  time of experience.
